Happy New Year from a hot and sunny Bahrain. I hope your hangovers are not too severe and that you were sensible with the drink this year! We are planning a game of golf today and then a relaxing afternoon in the sunshine before we have our new year's nosh up. Hopefully there will be no new bees. Yesterday a Sheila was stung a few times when she accidentally disturbed a load of bees that had chosen our outside light on the roof to make a nest. It was on the outside of the light globe. They were a living mass of bees dangling on the light and the door had apparently scraped some of them off when it opened. Sheila managed to get back into the house (I was at the golf at the time) with only a few stings to the head and hand.
When I got back I looked outside and saw the mass of bees on the light but I couldnt open the door more than an inch or two. I sprayed them with loads of ant killer and left it a while. When we went back there were hundreds of dead bees on the ground and the rest had gone. There was a small honeycomb formed on the globe and it was indeed full of honey, about enough for one slice of toast!
Have a great day today.
David and Sheila
