Its the weekend once again and this one is a bit special because it incorporates Al Hijra which is the first day of the Islamic New Year and so is a holiday. This weekend is also the Bahrain Ladies Open golf championships at Awali and we have agreed to help with the official scoring. It is the ladies equivalent of what I played in a few weeks ago. That means we wont be able to play golf this weekend until Sunday.
The weather has cooled considerably and rain has threatened a couple of times. I am not sure what the temperature actually is but I can tell you that its perfect. It is still very warm in the sunshine, mild if the sun is behind could and cool bordering on chilly in the evening, especially if there is a breeze blowing.
It will not be long now until we are back for the Christmas Holiday. Three more working weeks I think. That will fly by and we will be homeward bound again. We are flying British Airways for the first time so we'll see what thats like. It involves a transfer between terminals at Heathrow so fingers crossed for that. I hear that lots of baggage goes missing but I think most of the passengers make it!!!!
I think you may have seen Bahrain on your news again for the past couple of nights. There have been a few protests over the past couple of nights to coincide with "World protest day" or something like that. There has been a lots of tyre burning on the road and explosions of gas cannisters. The cannisters make an almighty bang but I dont think they do much damage. The teachers who live roughly in the area where we used to live have had lots of disturbance by these explosions but we have heard absolutely nothing in our new home. It is very peaceful down here. Once again I hear that the BBC are sensationalising their reporting and making it out to be much, much worse than it is.
Andrea from our old compound tells us that the brothers who owned it appear to have fallen out and they are building a wall up the middle of the compound to split it in two! I think we may have left at just the right time although the swimming pool is apparently in the same half that our old house is in.
OK I think that's all the news for now. See you all soon.
